Located in Bentong district in Pahang is a small village dubbed Kampung Simpang Pelangai. Interestingly, this is the birth place of Pahang’s Mentri Besar, Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob who is the pride of Kampung Simpang Pelangai’s villagers. The rapid progress through business opportunities such as operating a mi kuning (yellow noodles) business concern, chilli sauce and biscuits have given the villagers a chance to upgrade their economic level. Generally, the support resources from government and private agencies have helped in expanding their enterprises.


Tourism History

Savour the nature’s beauty at Gapoi Waterfall located in Kampung Gapoi, Bentong, Pahang. The peaceful, cascading waterfall is situated near Kampung Simpang Pelangai, a mere 20 minutes drive. Visitors who seek to relax and enjoy nature at its best will definitely feel blissful with the well preserved surrounding of its flora and fauna. Most of the locals are the natives of Kampung Gapoi.

Around 1940’s, the Japanese occupation had brought enormous hardships to the locals. Their plight did not end even after the Japanese’s retreat. The communist’s action of taking over the administration after the Japanese occupation had caused the administrative authority of Tanah Melayu at that time to declare a state of emergency thus enforcing the curfew.
