Rebana, Tepak Sireh, and Gong; three equipments symbolizing the Malay heritage will welcome visitors to the district of Rembau. These replicas greatly reflect the lifestyle of the society in Rembau which still hold firmly to their custom and tradition.

The name Rembau itself is unique as the name somehow bears a similarity with the name of a tree locally known as Merbau. Another landmark that becomes an identity to this district is the replica of Istana Raja Melewar or Raja Melewar Palace which has been rebuilt to become a museum. This signifies the community’s high appreciation of their culture.

General Information History
Entering the gateway to Rembau district, your eyes will surely be fascinated with the replica of the musical instruments erected in the middle of the town. Attached to these “musical instruments” is a replica of Merbau tree written on it “Rembau Daerah Beradat” which signifies the society’s traditional and cultural practices in their daily lives.

The name “Rembau” connotes “Merbau”; one of the well-known joinery timber in Malaysia. Here, the district gets its name from a stump of an old Merbau tree which is found in Kampung Api-Api, Jalan Kampung Mungkal.
