The lucrative but laborious Jamnapari goat and sheep breeding are among the economic development project commercialised in Kampung Paya Jakas. Entrepreneur, Khairuddin Sagap’s small scale goat farming is a success although this is his very first attempt to make it in this industry. Khairuddin claimed that not many people are courageous enough to venture into this kind of industry. Determined to be one of the pioneer in the livestock industry in this village, he deems that goat farming has the potential to generate lucrative profit.


History Women

Kampung Paya Jakas got its name from the swamp area that existed during the early settlement in the area. The people of Kampung Paya Jakas found a type of Jakas tree which looks like Mengkuang (screw-pine) growing around their village area. Eventually they decided to name their village Kampung Paya Jakas.

Under the auspices of the Women Association of Kampung Paya Jakas, kendarat is a women group that is established to assist the villagers during the preparation of weddings. Altruistic and cooperative values are the cores of their strong bond for each other and the villagers as a whole. They also help each other whenever a problem arises. The involvement of the womenfolk in the village activities is a popular past time and foster close relationship among villagers.
