Concerned about the problems of wildlife extinction, the government has carried out the initiative of establishing Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre and Deerland Park at Bukit Rengit, Lanchang. Here you can experience the charm of wild nature at close range. Once you come here, animals such as elephant, deer, ostrich, bear, rabbit and Sun Bear are within reach and could be fed directly as there is no fence or boundary to set you apart from these tamed animals.

Lanchang is situated within Semantan Sub-District in the state of Pahang Darul Makmur. Semantan is well-known for its historic figures such as Dato’ Bahaman. His heroism and spirit in fighting the colonisers are still remembered by many and immortalised in Malaysian history.

History Farming and Plantation
Semantan is closely associated with the legendary figure, Datuk Bahaman. Abdul Rahman Tuanku Imam Noh was his full name, from Kampung Rantau Panjang. In 1891, the Semantan incident, resulted from the dissatisfaction of Dato’ Bahaman against British intervention in the Pahang administration, erupted between Dato’ Bahaman and the British colonisers. The agriculture sector requires transformation to compete in the economic and commercial sector. The modernisation of the agriculture sector helps in strengthening the villagers’ economy. For the residents of Semantan sub-district, the main agriculture crop is rubber and oil palm. About 20,440 hectares of land is specially allocated for the cultivation of rubber and fruits.
