History is important in our daily life. It is our guide so that we will not do the same mistake all over again. So does Kuala Linggi, known for its historic values. Kota Kuala Linggi is located in Bukit Supai and was famous for being called Kota Filipina, named after the Dutch Governor’s daughter at that time. This fort was built by the Dutch and Portuguese as a sign of truce between the two of them in 1756-1757. The outcome from this is that the Dutch gain control of Linggi and the tin trade.

JKKK Education

When asked who is responsible for the development of villages in Malacca, different answers will be given depending on the state or location. If this is in another state, the answer would be Ketua Kampung or Village Head but here they are known as Datuk Sidang. The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) is still the main organisation, being the ears and the eyes of the government.

Kuala Linggi has a private religious school, Darul Maghfirah which was founded by Tuan Haji Rahmat Haji Ali. Better known as Pak Itam, he was the teacher in Darul Maghfirah and respected by all.
