Kampung Chohong is situated about 12 kilometres from the Jasin town. Although located within the district of Jasin, Kampung Chohong is also bordered by the district of Tangkak, Johore. Kesang River separates these two towns of different states. About five kilometres from Kampung Chohong is Tangkak town.

Kerisik (coconut paste), a traditional food made from coconut is a popular delicacy here. Normally, kerisik (coconut paste) is added as one of the ingredients in rendang or curry. To produce the kerisik (coconut paste), the coconut copra is grated and fried over a medium fire until the colour turns from white to brownish. Usually, the production of kerisik (coconut paste) is done using traditional method such as firewood as fire source since the cooking process takes quite a long time.


History Youth

Kampung Chohong got its name from a ship with frequently berthed at the nearby harbour. Among those was a merchant ship which frequently came here. The ship dubbed “Chu Hong” became the mode of communication and transportation for the villagers to export their local products to Malacca’s trading centre.

The Silat Sendeng (Malay martial arts) Society also had achieved successes such as winning the Malay martial arts championship title for two consecutive years in the national silat competition held in Johore Bahru and Selangor. This society had attracted the attention of both the print and electronic media which had recorded their silat performance for the national audience.
