“As for Laksamana Hang Tuah, wherever he goes, the people are agape in awe at his behaviour. The ground tremors whenever he’s at the royal audience hall, if he is at the ‘panggungan’, a fight occur. Wherever he goes, the young Javanese maidens will swoon at his feet, crazy for him. When strolling through the village, even the married ladies will stand up mesmerised by Hang Tuah...” That is the legend of Hang Tuah as written in the Malay Annals (Sejarah Melayu). The mere mention of his name is sufficient to remind everyone of his unbending warrior spirit and his charisma. His undaunted loyalty towards the king had earned him the respect in the era of the Malaccan Sultanate. His famous saying “The Malays Will Not Vanished From This World” is a constant reminder to the young people today.
